Metallica "Death Magnetic" -- Pre-order available now!

Death Magnetic is the upcoming ninth studio album by American heavy metal band Metallica.

It is scheduled for release on September 12, 2008 by Warner Bros. Records. The album will also be the band's first to feature current bassist Robert Trujillo, and the first to be produced by Rick Rubin. It will also be their first studio album released through Warner Bros., although they still remain with Warner Music Group, which also owns Elektra Records, the band's previous label. The album will be promoted by the preceding single "The Day That Never Comes", released in August.

EDM 871 response from my MP

In a previous post about EDM 871 I emailed my local MP asking for his support. Today I have received a reply, and whilst Siôn Simon does not tend to support early day motions, he sympathises with the sentiment of the EDM and has agreed to write to the minister responsible and pass on the response to me.

This is great news, and the more people that support this, the more normal life will become for people with Coealiac Disease in the future

Potatoes for schools

The children brought home some potatoes from school just before the Easter break as part of an initiative from the British Potato Council.

We had to let our seed potatoes harden and sprout for a few weeks (or chitting as it is known) before we could plant them.

Gemma grows potatoes

We planted the potatoes in 6 inches of soil, and watered them every few days. Every time the potatoe shoots popped through the soil, we covered them with another 6 inches of soil until we reached the top of the container.

The plants are nice and healthy, and we are eager to taste our first crop in a few weeks.

Telfordaires win "Small Chorus Award"

Dad is a member of a barbershop singing group called the “Telfordaires”.

They attended the 34th annual convention of the British Association of Barbershop Singers at Cheltenham Racecourse from 23rd - 25th May 2008, where they won the “Small Chorus Award”.

Project Honeypot plugin for Serendipity

I have taken the plunge and written my first plugin for Serendipity.

Support is pretty basic, you are required to enter a key which can be got from the Project Honeypot web site.

The plugin does a DNS lookup on the IP that is posting a comment and rejects the comment if it is a known spammer.

Logging is rudimentary, with support for file/database/none.

I have only tested file based logging, so please let me know how it goes for you.
